A closer fit

Your workflow is more than a list of stops

Pub, bar, hotel and restaurant collections are repetitive but rarely simple. Access windows, noise restrictions, container locations and seasonal volume all affect the route. PaperRoute keeps those service details with the customer and turns each completed stop into a usable waste and invoice record.

Best suited to

Independent commercial glass recyclers and bottle collectors running repeat hospitality, venue and multi-site business rounds.

01

Hospitality access windows are narrow

Many sites want collection before service, after deliveries or away from quiet hours. The route has to reflect the real access note, not just the postcode.

02

Volumes change with trading patterns

Events, summer trade and Christmas peaks can turn a normal schedule into overflow calls and extra pickups.

03

Repeat work still needs evidence

A season ticket can simplify applicable non-hazardous transfer paperwork, but individual collection times, quantities and service issues still need to be recorded.

One connected flow

From booking to a complete job record

The detail changes by sector. The principle does not: capture the information once, at the point where it is known, and keep it with the job.

  1. 1

    Set the service pattern

Keep collection frequency, container, waste stream, access window and site contact on the customer record.

  2. 2

    Build a dense round

Sequence due stops and send the latest plan to the driver, including special instructions for cellars, yards and shared service areas.

  3. 3

    Record the pickup

Capture time, quantity, notes, photos and signature where configured, including exceptions such as contamination or blocked access.

  4. 4

    Share records and invoice

Keep the collection under the relevant WTN or season-ticket arrangement, update the customer history and progress approved charges.

PaperRoute in practice

Recurring rounds with collection-level detail

PaperRoute helps you run the repeat service efficiently without losing the evidence that explains what happened at each venue.

  • Recurring pub, hotel, restaurant and venue services
  • Truck-aware route sequencing and live progress
  • Site access notes in the offline-capable driver app
  • Quantities, notes, photos and signatures by collection
  • Digital WTN and season-ticket supporting records
  • Customer portal and consolidated invoicing

Compliance context

Season tickets simplify paperwork, not the collection history

For qualifying recurring transfers of the same non-hazardous waste between the same parties, a season ticket can cover a period of up to one year.

The duty-of-care code still says collection times and waste quantities should be recorded. Changes in waste type, parties or other relevant details can mean the arrangement needs review.

England's Simpler Recycling rules increase attention on separating dry recyclable streams including glass, but they do not remove the need for accurate transfer information and authorised waste handling.

Operational outcomes

What a connected workflow changes

More workable hospitality routes

Plan around access notes and move extra collections into the round without handing drivers another printed sheet.

Clear evidence for every stop

Keep the date, time, quantity and site exception under the customer and applicable transfer arrangement.

Fewer customer document requests

Use the portal to give authorised customers access to their WTNs and collection history.

Common questions

Glass & bottle collection FAQs

Can PaperRoute manage different collection frequencies for each venue?

Yes. Keep the service pattern and site details on the customer, then plan the jobs due for each day's round alongside any extra pickups.

Can drivers record a blocked or contaminated collection?

The driver workflow can capture notes and photos against the job, giving the office and customer a clearer record of why the planned service changed.

Can one annual WTN cover repeat glass collections?

A season ticket can cover qualifying repeat transfers of the same non-hazardous waste between the same parties for up to a year. Keep collection-level dates and quantities and review the arrangement if the details change.

Does the UK Deposit Return Scheme include glass bottles?

The current England and Northern Ireland scheme due in October 2027 covers qualifying PET plastic, steel and aluminium drinks containers, not glass. Commercial glass collection remains a separate service opportunity.
